  • Specialisation: Upper Cretaceous - Lower Tertiairy corals (and sponges).
  • General interests: paleontology, geology, invertebrate aquatic biology.
  • Hobbies: diving (started in 2006, now NOB/CMAS 4* diver and 2* instructor, DAN BLS, O2 and AED Instructor and studying for the remaining, more or less technical specialties), visiting quarries, collecting and preparing fossils, minerals and rocks, collecting books (mainly on corals and sponges), SF/Fantasy books and movies, homeimprovement, collecting and trying to play musical instruments, recording selfmade songs, (oil)painting, touring with a bicycle or with a car, shopping, swimming, cooking, genealogy and making this website.

  • 6 apr 2010 - 5 may 2010: project employee Palaeontological-mineralogical cabinet Teylers Museum. Creating an xml export from the existing VFP and DBase databases from the fossils, rocks and minerals for transfer to admuse database.
  • 13 nov 2006 - 12 nov 2009: datamanagement projectemployee at Naturalis. Solving incidents and fixing/developing interfaces+database structures for the about 100 databases in use for the collections of Naturalis, until the new central databasesystem of the collection will be implemented. Mainly using Delphi7, visualFoxPRO9, Sql Server 2005 and Microsoft Access2007. Assisting in creating export databases for several internet sites of Naturalis.

      1. Substitution for the collectionmanager in his absence, due to his long term illness and since October 2002 due to his retirement. This means: dealing with questions, written and verbal, from the public on fossils and minerals, restauration and conservation of fossils, cleaning objects, making labels for objects, checking the computerdata, translating texts for Teylers Magazijn, Teylers Magazijn and for Teylers Agenda, receiving and guiding guests, groups and classes through the museum and giving lectures on geological subjects.
      2. First phase of making a new relational database including a userfriendly GUI for the Cabinet in VFP7. Concentrated on checking the registration of storage of the allmost 35000 objects.
      3. Writing and illustrating the paleontological and mineralogical content of the new website of teylers museum
      4. Making of approximately 9000 labels for minerals and rocks and storing them with their objects in depot.
      5. Supervising the restauration of an 18th century simples chest, describing its state and position of objects within, cleaning rocks and minerals in it.
